Shaping the Future Campaign

In honor of AAHPM's 25th Anniversary, it's not only time to reflect on the past but also to prepare for the major challenges that lie ahead.

Due to the growing population of adults and children living with serious illness, more families need support. This historic demographic shift is already placing larger demands on the profession and is creating a significant workforce gap. In addition to having fewer doctors bedside, this workforce shortage could thrust clinicians into leadership roles with little to no training and limited support. Further, uncertainty within the U.S. health care system, rising medical costs, looming government budget cuts, and legislative and regulatory changes could place patients at increased risk.

To meet future needs, AAHPM launched the Shaping the Future Campaign. Under the visionary leadership of three co-chairs, Ira Byock, MD FAAHPM, Christine S. Ritchie, MD MSPH FACP FAAHPM, and Christian T. Sinclair, MD FAAHPM, the campaign has raised over $700,000. Over 153 members, including all members of the AAHPM Board of Directors, have already invested in the Academy's future.
