Support a Physician-Domestic or Abroad-through the Palliative Medicine Access Fund

Each year, the Palliative Medicine Access Fund provides scholarships to physicians with exposure to the field of hospice and palliative medicine, who are interested in learning more.  Those demonstrating the greatest need for assistance receive scholarships to help defray meeting registration and travel expenses to the AAHPM & HPNA Annual Assembly.

The Academy will be awarding scholarships for the 2012 AAHPM HPNA Annual Assembly to physicians from all across the United States and the globe. It will be a terrific learning opportunity for these 15-20 physicians to learn the latest clinical information and research updates, while networking with others actively involved in palliative care.  

This year, AAHPM received more than 100 compelling applications for scholarships from all across the globe - more than 80 of which were from developing countries. The Academy was be able to provide funds to fully support trips for three physicians to the 2011Annual Assembly - one from Nepal, another from Uganda, and a third physician traveled all the way from Vietnam.

The need is great, but the funds are limited. Won't you consider helping?

Your support is needed to help fund additional scholarships for physicians like these. If 200 AAHPM members each contributed $100, 20 additional physicians would be able to experience an Annual Assembly. As a result, these physicians would share their newfound knowledge with colleagues and even more patients will have access to palliative care in the United States and throughout the world.
