Educate the Specialists and the Generalists

The Academy must expand education programs, services and resources for the specialist and generalist to acquire knowledge and build skills in caring well for seriously ill patients and their families. Essential educational initiatives include:

• Designing web-based curriculums for physicians in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Oncology, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care

• Creating case-based simulation for specialist-level content needed to support Maintenance of Certification in hospice and palliative medicine

• Developing mobile capabilities with options accessible virtually, on-demand and in "real time"

• Increasing scholarship and learning opportunities for physicians in training, early career professionals and those in underserved areas throughout the U.S. and beyond
