Bridge the Imminent Workforce GapThe Academy must attract, develop and retain a sufficient workforce of clinicians, educators and researchers to provide access to hospice and palliative care. Crucial initiatives to solve this workforce crisis include: • Increasing fellowship opportunities, academic partnerships and enhanced medical student training curriculums to entice trainees at all levels to explore careers in hospice and palliative medicine • Expanding mid-career training opportunities and certification pathways to increase the pool of specialist clinicians, educators and researchers • Broadening AAHPM's leadership development offerings to support physicians at all levels and stages of their career practicing in a variety of settings
