Clinical Scholars Program

Capital Hospice/Capital Palliative Care Consultants (CH/CPCC) Falls Church, VA
About the Site
Headquartered less than ten miles from Washington, DC, and serving much of the DC metropolitan area, Capital Hospice/Capital Palliative Care Consultants (CH/CPCC) provides an enriching experience covering the entire spectrum of palliative medicine and hospice. Expert consultations are offered in diverse settings and populations. The settings include two oncology clinics (urban and suburban); in three academic hospitals and one community hospital. The top five clinical populations are cancer, adult failure to thrive, dementia, heart disease, and chronic respiratory disease. Serving over 850 patients daily, both in their homes and in over sixty nursing homes and assisted living facilities, CH/CPCC also supports a fifteen bed inpatient hospice unit.
The clinical scholars program provided by CH/CPCC is intended to provide the applicant with the medical knowledge, clinical skills, and attitudes necessary to practice primary or consultative palliative medicine focusing on the needs of patients and advanced chronic illness or terminal illness in an effort to transform the culture and care for patients and families both in our local area and nationally. Those who choose to participate in our clinical scholars program will have the opportunity to learn alongside our fellows going through a one or two year fellowship program. In addition, we are setting up a clinical research program to further develop the academic side of all we do to promote world class expertise.
