Held in June 2010, participants in this webinar learned specific strategies for palliative care physicians and radiation oncologists to work together from a physician who is both.

Purchase the recording to:

  1. Discuss radiation oncology basics, in particular approaches for patients needing palliative therapy.

  2. Identify optimal methods and techniques to use in hospice and palliative care settings.

  3. Identify specific strategies to improve collaboration between palliative care providers and radiation oncologists.

The majority of palliative care and hospice programs in North America provide care to patients with symptomatic advanced cancers. Some of these patients are candidates for symptom relief with palliative radiation therapy. In 2008, only 1 in 4 programs provided palliative radiation therapy. Not all radiation oncologists share the same goals of care with their patients, families and palliative care team.

Participants in this webinar reviewed the common perspectives of practicing radiation oncologists, understanding  the fundamental principles of fractioned radiation therapy, the process structure of a radiation oncology clinic and current reimbursement structures.

Learn to create successful communication strategies , leading to rapid and effective pain and symptom management and convenient and cost-effective hospice and palliative care programs.
