Fellowship Programs

Development

If you are developing a fellowship program and would like to receive announcements of special interest to fellowship program directors from AAHPM, send an email with your contact information and the program name to resources@aahpm.org or call 847/375-4712.

Program Standards

Fellowship programs being developed that hope to eventually achieve accreditation will need to be based upon established standards and guidelines. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), a private, non-profit organization that is responsible for the accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States, has developed and recently approved these standards.

To view the Program Requirements, click here. The Program Information Form (PIF), or application, for accreditation by ACGME is also available on their Website.

FindAResident Program

Offered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), FindAResident is a powerful, Web-based service designed to help administrators and program directors fill open residency and fellowship positions. This program is offered to PMRC or ACGME accredited programs.

The Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) are both program opportunities in which specialties can enroll. During the March 2008 Fellowship Directors' Forum meeting, representatives from ERAS and NRMP will present these programs. As AAHPM and the Fellowship Directors' Forum continue to discuss our involvement in these programs we encourage fellowship directors to learn more about them. To view the ERAS Web site, please click here. To visit the NRMP Web site, please click here.

Members-only resource: A presentation on Recruitment from the March 2007 Fellowship Directors' Forum meeting and samples of fellowship applications are available in the members-only section of the AAHPM Web site. Click here and login to the members-only section to access these helpful resources.
