Palliative Care Physician

Kaiser Permanente-Colorado is expanding its palliative care programs throughout the Denver Metro region.  The Palliative Care Department and the Colorado Permanente Medical Group are seeking board eligible/certified, full- or part-time, palliative care physicians interested in joining the region's two inpatient palliative care (IPC) consultation teams at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital (Denver) and Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center (Lafayette, near Boulder).  KP-Colorado's award winning and nationally recognized (Circle of Life, 2007) palliative care teams serve as Kaiser's national model for inpatient palliative care consultation.

The KP-Colorado Palliative Care Department was formed in 2005 under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Johnson.  Backed by the strength of three randomized controlled trials in inpatient, home and clinic settings, the department continues to expand its clinical services in hospital, home and clinic settings.  In 2008, KP-Colorado's two IPC consult teams (consisting of a physician, nurse, social worker, pharmacist and chaplain) cared for nearly 1400 patients/families at two regional hospitals.
