Membership

Categories of Members

Regular membership (Physician) - $415
Allopathic or osteopathic physicians fully licensed to practice medicine in a state, territory or province of competent jurisdiction.

Affiliate membership - $205
Non-physician health care professionals (nurse, social worker, pharmacist, physician assistant, etc.) with a demonstrated commitment to the purposes of the Academy.

Physician-in-Training (Fellow) - $130
Physicians in good standing in an accredited or approved residency or fellowship training program. Documentation must be provided from the current fellowship program director.

Resident or Medical Student: - $25
Individuals in good standing in an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy or residency program. Documentation must be provided from the current dean of a program. Virtual membership (electronic access only).

International Corresponding membership - Free
Practicing physicians holding an MD, DO or equivalent degree who are actively engaged in the field of hospice and palliative medicine, and who permanently reside in a developing nation, as defined by the World Bank as "lower or middle income group". Virtual membership (electronic access only).

Emeritus membership - Free
Members who have retired from active practice and have maintained at least 15 consecutive years of membership in good standing shall be eligible for emeritus membership by requesting it of the Membership Department in a written letter. Virtual membership (electronic access only).

Honorary membership - Free
Any person who has made significant contributions to the development of hospice/palliative medicine shall be eligible for honorary membership by action of the Board. Virtual membership (electronic access only).
