AAHPM MembershipAAHPM represents nearly 5,000 physicians, nurses, and health care professionals interested in the specialty of hospice and palliative medicine. Members work in a variety of urban, rural, and suburban health care settings, including hospitals, hospices, managed-care facilities and academic institutions, with varied patient populations – from pediatrics to geriatrics. The majority of the Academy’s physician members specialize in family and internal medicine. ADVOCACY that amplifies your voice The Academy tracks critical issues and provides members with the information, tools, and training required to be effective advocates for their patients and their practice. In recent years, AAHPM has promoted policies that would increase the number of palliative medicine specialists, expand support for research, and improve access to palliative care services for patients with serious illness and their families. Leveraging its representation in Washington, DC, the Academy will continue to ensure that the interest of hospice and palliative medicine are advance in the legislative and regulatory arenas.
