Special Interest GroupsRESEARCHPurposeCreate a community within the Academy where researchers of different methodological persuasions, both quantitative and qualitative, are able to: (1) network; (2) build research collaborations across institutions and disciplines; (3) share strategies for research designs, research funding, and the application of research findings to practice; and (4) establish formal and informal mentoring relationships for both junior and senior investigators. The AAHPM annual meeting is one of only a few events each year where palliative medicine researchers come together and thus a research focused interest group could capitalize on this opportunity by providing organized events and sessions to facilitate the above-mentioned activities.
