AAHPM Membership
The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) is the professional organization for physicians specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. Membership is also open to nurses and other healthcare providers who are committed to improving the quality of life of patients and families facing life-threatening or serious conditions. For 20 years, the Academy has dedicated itself to advancing hospice and palliative medicine and improving the care of patients with life- threatening or serious conditions. It is the only organization of its kind in the United States that supports healthcare professionals dedicated to the advancement of practice, research, and education in the field of hospice and palliative medicine. AAHPM has 3,700 members and continues to grow.

Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, this international peer-reviewed journal provides new research and clinical information related to palliative care and pain management. JPSM is the official journal of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Members receive JPSM free each month as a benefit of membership.
Free subscription to PC-FACS (Fast Article Critical Summaries for Clinicians in Palliative Care). This “journal watch,” delivered electronically each month, includes comprehensive reviews and commentaries on key articles from 50 medical and scientific journals. AAHPM members can earn up to 3 CME credits quarterly.
AAHPM Bulletin provides articles on clinical topics, case studies, policy issues, and organizational news.
Members Only Section gives you online access to the membership directory, journal, newsletter, PC-FACS and other resources including guides to physician coding and billing.
AAHPM Jobmart keeps you informed about current career opportunities in hospice and palliative medicine in a variety of settings across the country.

Categories of Members
Physician - $395
Practicing physician membership may be granted to individuals holding an MD, DO, or equivalent degree who are actively engaged in the field of hospice and/or palliative medicine.
Affiliate - $195
Affiliate membership may be granted to any nonphysician professional with a demonstrated commitment to the purposes of the Academy.
Fellow - $125
To join as a fellow, documentation must be provided from the current fellowship program director.
Resident/Student - $20
Residents and medical/nursing students are entitled to a free, virtual membership with documentation from the dean of a current program. Virtual membership provides electronic access only to periodicals.
International Corresponding - Free
International Corresponding membership is available to physicians at the postgraduate level for whom a significant portion of their professional activity is related to palliative care, and who reside in a nation included on the HINARI lists of eligible countries. Applicants must provide documentation that they reside in an eligible country. International Corresponding members receive electronic access only to periodicals and may not vote, hold office, or serve on AAHPM committees or task forces.
